Empowered by Dynamic People: from Consultant to Project Lead

Jun 19

A conversation with
Tjalling Zijlstra

After years in various roles within Dynamics projects, it was important for Tjalling to focus on the role of project manager.
“I didn’t want to end up in a functional role again. At Dynamic People, I immediately got the chance to step into project management.”
In a large corporate environment, it’s harder to claim that position, he says. “Dynamic People is a smaller organization, which meant I could gain a lot of experience in a short time with a wide range of projects.”

Projects and impact

What gives him energy at work? “Satisfied clients.” Projects where he has to jump in halfway through – those are the toughest.
“Long-term projects with changing teams really challenge your structure and overview.” With his background as a consultant, he knows exactly what project managers face. “That helps when talking to consultants. I understand their perspective – but now I approach things from a process standpoint.”

A project that stands out? “The CRM project at a semi-public organization in the Groene Hart. The people there are open and friendly, and you can tell they’re genuinely happy with what we deliver. That gives me a real energy boost.”

Working at Dynamic People

What sets Dynamic People apart for him? The vibe. “You meet a lot of people and connect quickly with colleagues. We do a lot together – sports, lunch, events. That makes the job even more fun. The office itself is also a great place: spacious and open.”Within the project team, you work independently on your own projects – but you’re still connected. “We have weekly check-ins on project progress and easily reach out to each other in between.”

Personal growth and ambition

What does Tjalling want to achieve in the near future? “Just deliver great projects. That’s what gives me the most energy.”
He handles unexpected challenges well. “You don’t walk into a fully prepped situation. You really have to roll up your sleeves.”

To project managers or consultants who are still hesitating

“Are you thinking about making the switch to Dynamic People? Think about the people, the vibe, and the variety. The energy is positive, the projects are diverse, short, impactful, and never the same. You have a lot of control over how you approach things. It’s really something for people who want to take ownership. The space and trust you get here ensure that you tackle projects with joy and confidence.”
